Thoughts from Boo and Bear.......
Did you ever wish that your piggies could speak and tell you
what they want
or what's wrong. Well, they are! We speak to you every day. You
just need
to know how to understand us.
Learn about our regular routine and behaviors. Watch for
slight changes.
Am I scratching more than normal? Maybe I'm telling you I have a
skin problem.
Am I squeaking when I urinate? It hurts! Maybe I have a bladder
infection or a stone.
Am I hiding in a corner? Maybe I'm just tired or having a
bad day but keep an eye on me.
I may be sick and I can not tolerate sickness for
a long length of time. It's important to
get us to the veterinarian quickly when we seem ill. Keep in mind that we guinea pigs tend
to hide our
illnesses. In the wild we don't want to be seen as weak by our predators or the
rest of our cavy clan.
Remember human speech is not the only form of communication.
It's just the
one you're most familiar with.
Learn to speak "Guinea Pig" or "Cavy" and you will be a much better friend to your pet.
